Who Is To Blame For Our Skyrocketing Obesity Statistics?

My good friend Annie thinks like that. It's the normal thing to do. But Annie is at least 30 pounds overweight. She is obviously addicted to carbs food and I doubt she realizes she has lost control. She says she is planning to start a diet. She'll start next week she says - or at the latest, a week after. That's why she is not worried.

What makes her hesitate? She has dieted before and in her heart of hearts, she knows that after all the hard work of losing the weight, it will always come back, eventually.

Joe is the same, he is closer to 100 pounds overweight, but being a guy, he stills believes he looks great and that most women find him hot. He does not see the same image in the mirror that everyone else sees. But what's worse, he keeps putting off those tests. That's because he's been told he is heading for a heart attack. He'd rather not know.

What about Andy? He is totally addicted to carbohydrates and can't control his eating. His weight increases almost daily. He has just had a colonoscopy, but doesn't want to hear the results. He is convinced he is already on death row.

We are all guilty of lying. The lies we tell ourselves are far more convincing than those we get from others. What we need is a trigger. Something that shocks us out of our complacency and forces us to 'get real' and to do something positive!

Like what? It can be anything that takes the focus off ourselves, and gives us a wider prospective. We have families right? One day we'll have descendants. They will look back at us with no thanks in their hearts and probably not much forgiveness.

They'll know we had our moment in time, when this all began. They will have heard how we listened to misinformation. How we never switched on our BS barometers. We lacked interest, we were bored. Obesity was not our responsibility.

Yet we were there, we saw it before it was too late. We had an opportunity to expose and reveal the lies. But we were too busy with more important things. And yes, we were quite sure none of it applied to us anyway. In any case, if it is a problem, somebody else will always fix it. Isn't that how it works?

So rather than think it out, put our skepticism into gear and learn the truth. We switch on our cynicism and take comfort in the fact that nobody else has spoken up to stem the tide of misinformation. We assure ourselves that the information is probably correct. How can so many people be wrong? Why should we be the ones to ask all the critical questions? It can only cause us embarrassment. So we figure, if the food is so bad for us - they won't let us eat it.

The fact is, not only do they let us eat it they actively pressure and coerce us to eat it. They weave false stories about how our body works and they fill our heads with nonsense about what foods we should eat and why. Who are they? Let's begin with cereal and snack food corporations. Then we have all the wheat and other grain growers. Let's not leave out Nutritionists, most are on the payroll of at least one of the many corporations.

Finally we have the flash-in-the-pan, hit and run, internet Gurus. They have taken a course on marketing and picked weight loss as a profitable niche. In reality, they don't know any less than all the other purveyors of misinformation. Few if any of these people, or corporation, have ever studied how the human body works. It's not in their interest to know. Yet, they will tell you at the drop of a hat exactly what type of food you should put into your body.

You see, to them their kind of food is the right food. It's the food on which they have built their empires, corporations, businesses and careers. They have had around forty years to establish their position. They are not about to let you spoil it for them. They don't want you to think about all this, because thinking usually leads to a desire to get answers.

If, as a result of this article, you set out to find the answers. If you actually learn how your body works and what it does with the food you eat. Then you will no longer be confused about what is the right food for your body. You'll know why you keep getting fat. You'll be able to fix it and put it all behind you. Once you do that you will have no doubts about what kind of food you should eat.

Finally you will have the relief of knowing that if you switch to the right food, your body will finally be happy. So will you. That's because you will no longer need to lose weight - ever again!
