How I Personally Lost Weight With Herbalife

A number of years ago my wife decided to start her own business. When she told me it was Herbalife I was pretty sceptical but I went along with it. Then she got me to agree to go on a weight loss program. I'm not sure how that happened but I definitely needed to lose weight. It was recommended as a business requirement to try out the products and get your own personal success stories happening. So that's why I agreed to try this particular weight loss program - to keep my wife happy.

The program is based on meal replacement so the idea was to replace two meals with a protein shake which also contains a number of other vitamins and minerals. There are also pills to take which at the time consisted of a multivitamin capsule and a B6 supplement. As an optional extra there is a green tea product which comes in powdered form and just mixes with hot water to create the tea.

The shake mix was supposed to give you enough protein so you wouldn't be hungry. I found that I needed to use more than the standard 28 grams to achieve that - probably because I'm a bigger guy. I also fortified it with 2 extra scoops of the protein powder which is a separate product. That would usually do the trick.

Although we were advised that we needed to replace two meals a day with the shakes we thought we could start on a gradient with just one. The idea of replacing two real meals with basically milkshakes was too hard to confront. I think I lost maybe a kilogram but that was it. We did this for a month before we realised that it just wasn't going to happen on a single meal replacement a day. So we bit the bullet and started having shakes for both breakfast and lunch and having a real meal for dinner.

The first week was hard and I did get hungry, although I found that drinking a lot of water really helped with that. This was just as well because drinking lots of water (2 litres a day minimum) was part of the program and helped clean out the body as well as aiding the functioning of the kidneys and liver. The liver is the organ that metabolises fat so it can use all the help it can get.

Out of all the pills I found that the B6 supplement with herbs really helped. It seemed to have this bowel cleansing action and must have contained additional fibre.

The green tea product was good for boosting metabolism. It apparently also contained a good amount of antioxidants so was also cleansing in that way. It's lucky we were doing the program in winter because I would have found it hard to drink in summer. Apparently it can be drunk cold as well mixed in with fruit juice.

Well the weight did come off and I ended up losing 15 kilograms and having a fair bit more energy. My weight came down to an acceptable range and I went back to eating normal food. I did in the meantime learn a lot about eating well so that surely helped keep it off.
