Am I Too Far Gone to Lose Weight?

I'm reminded all too often that there are people out there who feel that they are incapable of losing weight.

It could be they've been overweight so long that its become part of their identity and they wouldn't know who they were without the weight.

It could be they have reached their golden years and they feel that at that point, there's no real use in changing.

Or it could be that they have so much weight to lose that they don't see being able to lose it realistically.

My advice in all three cases is this, it's never to late to lose weight.

No matter where you are it's never to late to take steps in the right direction.

Many times even a small weight loss can have significant effects on overall health.

It can lower blood pressure, cholesterol and even make it easier to do things you've struggled with for a long time.

I don't know the exact amount of time you add on to your life with every pound lost but just think how awesome it is that you will actually have that extra time.

Who knows what you could do with an extra ten years?

For those who feel that it's simply unrealistic to lose a significant amount of weight at the point they are at in their lives, I understand it's easy to feel that.

In those cases my best recommendation would be to just try to lose a couple pounds, see how it feels, if you like it keep going, if not, well, that's your choice.

And always remember there's no pressure. If you want to lose weight, go for it, if not, you're still an awesome person.

Finally for those of you who's identity is wrapped up in being a big person, you can't lie to me and tell me you've never imagined what it would be like to be skinnier.

Be it more options for love, more of an ability to have fun or just for vanity's sake you can't tell me you've never thought about it. I've been there, I know what it's like.

I'll say this, just like any major life change there's a significant period of adjustment. Transition can be a hard thing. But I can guarantee you'll feel infinitely better about a new body than you would have about your old one.

There's always room to adjust to a new personality, and who's to say you can't be just as awesome a person skinny as you were when you were big?

Of course, as I've stated before a successful weight loss regimen requires that you make the decision to lose weight, it requires the formation of healthy habits, and it requires time.

That said, if you want to lose weight, there's always enough time for you to do so, it's never too late.

Even if you're 90 years old, you can still work on your physique.

Chances are you'll feel better than 90% of your peers if you do so.

In summary, you are never too far gone to lose weight. If I can do it, anyone can do it. It just takes a decision, habits and time. Anyone can do it.
