Running To Lose Weight - Blast That Tummy Fat Away!

Running to lose weight is often a daunting prospect for many people, but it's also one of the easiest and most enjoyable activities to do, and one that will help you achieve your weight loss goals and efforts to lose extra tummy fat.

Now, by easy I don't mean you won't have to work; like any other exercise you'll only get out of it as much as you put into it. Consider that it takes no special equipment, there's no membership fee like you would have in a gym, you can do it pretty much anywhere all year round, and it's something you can take your spouse or friend along with you - what's the downside? None, really.

How Does Running Help You Lose Weight?

Remember that in order to lose weight, the bottom line is that you need to burn more calories than you consume in any given period. In fact, it takes burning through 3,500 calories to lose 1 lb - that's only 500 calories per day for a week. Considering that the average runner, who weighs around 150lbs, is going to burn around 100 calories for every mile they run a nice easy 5 mile run gets you there.

Track Your Progress

To get the most benefit out of your running, it's important to track your diet and exercises for a few weeks to get a proper feel for what calories are actually going in and being burned off. Write down everything you eat and drink, and at what times you ate or drank them. Write down what exercise you did - how many miles you ran, and for how long you were running.

Plan For Success

Plan your running schedule for weight loss! Don't just say 'I'll go running 3 times a week' - plan specific days and times, and stick to them. If you struggle with staying on track, find an accountability partner - someone who will run with you, and help you control your diet. If you are married, or have a partner, or have friends, encourage some of them to run with you. You can help keep each other motivated and act as accountability partners for each other.

Personal Tip - if your choose your spouse as an accountability partner, remember that this is a joint effort, not a competition. Encourage your spouse, don't compete with them.

Once you get into the habit of running, you may want to start making the exercise routine more challenging.

Running can be done anytime - early in the morning before work, early evening after work, even late at night on the treadmill. You need very little equipment to get started, and the benefits of running go far beyond just losing weight... so what are you waiting for?
